A New Chapter for Giving: South Fork Community Foundation Relaunches to SupportLocal Needs

South Fork is opening an exciting new chapter in community giving. After years of fostering local projects and celebrations, a group of dedicated residents has relaunched the South Fork Community Foundation - building on past successes to bring fresh philanthropic support to our town.

The new foundation may sound familiar. About five years ago, The Greater South Fork

Community Foundation merged with The Friends of South Fork to form the South Fork Friends Foundation (SFFF). Fueled by donations from generous neighbors, SFFF quickly became a driving force for positive change.

Through community fundraising, the foundation helped develop Rickel Park with its basketball courts and ice skating rink, supported the beloved Alder Ass Race and South Fork Arts and Crafts Show, and brought sparkle to the season with Christmas lights and the Yuletide Celebration at the Visitor Center.

As South Fork has grown, these cherished activities have now been thoughtfully handed over to the Town of South Fork, ensuring they continue under local stewardship. With this transition, the South Fork Friends Foundation has officially closed its doors—making way for a renewed mission under a trusted name: the South Fork Community Foundation.

Looking ahead, the South Fork Community Foundation plans to focus on funding meaningful local causes. Among their next goals are establishing scholarships for promising South Fork youth and potentially supporting the newly formed CASA del Valle. CASA del Valle trains and supports volunteers appointed by judges to advocate for children in dependency and neglect cases—helping ensure vulnerable kids have a voice during challenging times.
